What should I do if my SIM card and/or phone is lost or stolen?

Please immediately inform us – call at any time to 8076 8076 or come to the closest LMT Customer Service Center for us to lock the SIM card and protect you from malicious use of your connection. You will be able to receive a new SIM card at any Customer Service Center and keep your number.

Remember that the police should always be informed about the theft!

What should I do if my phone with SIM card is lost or stolen abroad?

If your phone is lost or stolen abroad, contact us immediately (24/7) by calling +371 2931 9911 or send an e-mail to info@lmt.lv. Remember that the police should be informed about the theft!

If someone misuses your phone, the costs will keep accruing without any notice (we encourage to report lost phones as soon as possible).

When you return to Latvia, come to the closest LMT Customer Service Center – we will give you a new SIM card.

How to lock a lost phone?

If you would like to lock your phone, you have to lodge a request indicating its IMEI code. You can also send a signed and scanned copy to info@lmt.lv or fax it to 67773707, or take your request to the closest LMT Customer Service Center.

What is an IMEI code?

Like any individual has an identity number, a phone is also assigned a unique IMEI code by its manufacturer that allows recognizing this device in a mobile communications network.

IMEI code consists of a combination of 15 characters. This code is unique, and no two phones should have the same IMEI number. Nevertheless, there have been some cases when phones have had the same IMEI code. This may occur, when an IMEI code of one phone is illegally saved in several other phones though Cabinet Regulations No 561 specifically prohibit the use of phones with falsified IMEI codes. It means that if a user informs about the theft or loss of a phone, this phone, as well as all the other devices with the same IMEI code are locked in all mobile communications networks.

It may also occur that you have no idea that the IMEI code of your phone is falsified. This may happen if someone gave this phone to you as a gift or it was bought from an individual. The following IMEI codes are especially risky:

How to unlock the IMEI code of your phone?

If you found the phone that you locked as lost, you have to lodge a written notice asking to unlock the IMEI code of the respective device. You can also send a signed and scanned copy to info@lmt.lv or fax it to 67773707, or lodge your request with the closest LMT Customer Service Center, and we will unlock your phone.

How can I check a phone if I would like to purchase it from an individual?

As it is best to check a phone in your presence and together with our experts, come to the closest LMT Customer Service Center with the respective phone – we will check if it is not stolen and if the owner does not have any debts. Of course, we can also provide some information by phone, though we cannot guarantee its accuracy.

How can I check that the phone that I would like to purchase from an individual functions?

It is better to come to an LMT Customer Service Center with the respective phone. Please note that insertion of a SIM card will not provide comprehensive information about the phone that you intend to buy.

How can I find out the IMEI code of my phone?

What should I know if I would like to purchase a phone abroad?

Before you make your purchase, please find out if the phone functions in GSM 900/1800 MHz, UMTS 900/2100 MHz, or LTE 1800 MHz system. Check if it was acquired legally, is not locked as lost or stolen, and if it is not subsidized by the local operator.

What phone systems can be used in the LMT network?

LMT network supports GSM 900/1800, UMTS 900/2100, and LTE 1800 standards for communications systems.

How can I unlock a mobile phone that has been locked with a security code?

Security code is not a PIN or a PUK code. If you do not know the security code of your phone, please ask its seller. If you purchased your phone from an individual, come to any LMT Customer Service Center and we will try to help.

What should I do if I have found someone’s phone?

Please immediately take it to the closest LMT Customer Service Center.
